People coming together to serve their community, getting outside of themselves, and putting others first is an amazing experience to witness. This past weekend The Word Wagon was privileged to participate in The Village’s Sent Sunday event. This event entailed congregants from The Village going into and serving their Nolensville community instead of attending a regular service time. Community service opportunities included, gardening at Shayne Elementary and Oliver Middle School, packaging food and bags for teachers, police officers, and the homeless population, organizing school supplies for children, and many more. The Word Wagon had the honor of creating a service opportunity as well.
We had an incredible team help sort through book donations we had received, put labels in the books, make beautiful bookmarks, and bundle books for the children we serve. Drum roll for the amount of books……
OVER 700 BOOKS SORTED
430 BOOKS BUNDLED TOGETHER!
Thanks Village People!
Wow! What an amazing opportunity for the Village people to come and join us in our vision to change children’s lives one book at a time. The books which were handled this past Sunday will go directly into the hands of the children we serve. For the children we serve to take away a bundle, is a sight of joy like none other. The children we serve often lack access to age appropriate level books but crave for the opportunity to read and learn. Through the generous book donations from all over the country, we are able to provide the opportunity to fill each child’s hands with a book.
Do you have books sitting in your garage, attic, or closet? Need a place to donate them? Look no further! We collect gently used to new books ranging from board books all the way to chapter books for children in our community. If you are interested in finding a loving home for your beloved books, please reach out through our website or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to donate your books today!
Thank you for joining us to change children’s lives one books at a time and as always #letskeepreading
